Character Name: Crona and Ragnarok
Series: Soul Eater
Game transferring from: Bastion
Canon Point in previous game: From permadeath in game (either after death or like, right before, whichever works with game mechanics (I didn't see it in the FAQ))

Summary/History:
Wiki
and here's a Bastion threadtracker

Changes in character from previous game:
Crona and Ragnarok's time in the Bastion had both positive and negative impacts. Crona became far more independent than in canon, thanks to the survival/questing nature of the game leading to Crona and Ragnarok spending most of their time fighting monsters together without any other assistance. They both also have more experience interacting with strangers, and Crona frequently took the initiative to welcome newcomers to the Bastion.

Crona and Ragnarok also have a somewhat stronger and less antagonistic relationship than in canon, again because of the time spent working together outside of the abusive situation Medusa created. Ragnarok in particular is going to be far more protective of Crona than in canon, because their canonpoint comes after their in-game permadeath (which only happened because Ragnarok was incapacitated).

Crona's naturally abrasive and stubborn personality aspects are somewhat more noticeable than in canon, because of some semi-antagonistic CR that led to Crona being more abrasive with people asking personal questions. But Crona also had begun to take on the role of a comforter, trying to offer advice and help to people in emotional distress. Crona also gained a stronger sense of wanting to protect people and to avoid causing harm, and even though that determination is what caused their deaths, it's still something Crona will hold to.

Personality:
Crona
Nervous, jumpy, submissive, usually terrified, and soul-crushingly pessimistic (reading one of Crona’s poems made a zombie so depressed he regretted he had ever been brought back to life), Crona is described on TVTropes as “the woobiest woobie that ever woobed”.

Crona’s mindset and personality have been shaped by the actions of Crona’s mother, the witch Medusa. When Crona was very young, Medusa began conducting a variety of experiments on Crona, in an attempt to create a Kishin (because every loving mother tries to turn their child into a demon god of insanity). So, Medusa melted Ragnarok down into Black Blood, replaced Crona’s blood with this wonderful magic substance, and then abused, starved, and forced Crona to kill small animals in an attempt to utterly break the child.

Medusa's actions resulted in Crona becoming violent and unstable, a traumatized child who doesn't know how to deal with normal interaction and very quickly resorts to destroying anyone or anything unnerving or distressing. Crona claims to hate everyone, and does everything possible to stay distant from others. In the anime version of the Soul Eater universe, the loss of fear is a major sign of insanity, and while insane, Crona fears nothing, willingly starts fights, and rushes to attack enemies head-on.

In addition to the violent side of Crona's personality, Crona is also fairly curious, constantly asking questions of anyone and everyone. This aspect of Crona personality does fade somewhat as the series progresses and Crona's more timid side comes to the front, but it is still part of how Crona's mind works.

After Crona and Maka become friends, Medusa apparently dies, and Crona begins attending classes at Shibusen, Crona's insanity fades and Crona's timid and pessimistic side comes to the forefront for a bit. Crona hides behind Maka, sits curled up in the corner of a room hugging a pillow, can't stand going out in crowds or walking around the school, and is terrified of one of the teachers (who happens to be a zombie). When Maka suggests that Crona write poetry to help share and express Crona's feelings, Crona's attempt is so soul-crushingly depressing that it makes everyone who reads it wish that they had never been born.

However, Crona does eventually become more comfortable around people, even without Maka around to provide support, and manages to settle in to a fairly normal school routine. Eventually, Crona becomes the sort of person who can stand up to Medusa as well as Ragnarok, a person who refuses to run away from responsibility and demonstrates selfless courage.

Ragnarok

Noisy, overbearing, bullying, slightly perverted, and self-centered, Ragnarok is pretty much everything Crona isn’t. He bullies Crona, stealing his meister’s food and liberally delivering noogies and light punches, carrying on running commentary about Crona’s fighting skills during battles, and letting Crona take light blows (not in combat) that were meant for Ragnarok. Additionally, he enjoys the taking and eating of souls, even without Medusa’s mind-altering spells. However, he is somewhat fond of his meister (because of their shared bodies and symbiotic nature), and protects, heals, and at times even encourages Crona.

He's something like an annoying, bullying older brother to Crona, and influences and forces Crona to follow Medusa's orders. Greed, boredom, and his temper and pride are usually his main motivations, and he doesn't really have any sort of conscience holding him back.

As the story progresses, Crona begins standing up to Ragnarok and refusing to cave in to his bullying, and usually that's enough to get the sword to back down and let Crona be.

Powers/Abilities:
Soul Perception: Crona can see souls. Power levels, species, and some basic personality traits. It's not a very strong ability, just enough to identify and track people at close range.

Ragnarok’s abilities: Transforms into broadsword, which uses sonic vibrations to act a like a buzzsaw, shredding in addition to slashing. Three different forms of his Screech attack (α, β, γ) which unleash a devastating sonic wave in conjunction with slashes of the sword.

Black Blood abilities: Blood hardens to provide protection against all by the strongest cutting attacks. Enhanced strength. Manipulation of blood outside of body (for example, the bloody needles attack, transforming blood splatters into flying needles, or the bloody slicer attack, in which Crona slits a wrist and uses that blood as a blade). Can use the black blood to grow dragon-like wings and fly.

Healing touch: An ability gained in the Bastion. Crona can heal one (non-self) individual from a non-fatal wound, this ability can be used three times per day.

Items on your character:
Nightingale armor: Armor (increases stamina, protects against cold), boots (increases stealth), gloves (increases dexterity).

Squirt: A monster from the Skyway who Crona adopted when it was injured. It's small, likes digging in the dirt, floats, and attacks by ramming opponents. It's Crona's pet, and Crona does a good job of keeping it from hurting people.

A battered leather messenger bag with some firestarting supplies, a bedroll, some beef jerky and doughnuts, and a bottle of fetching fizz and black rye. Fetching Fizz just dragged shards to the user, so that's useless. Black Rye if I'm remembering conversations about booze properly allowed one additional power use per day.

oh right also like... at least fifteen arrows. stuck in crona's armor and in crona. but hey at least ragnarok is functioning enough to hold crona together so the kid doesn't die again

Fourthwalling: Unlikely, ask first

[IC]

Gen Physical Contact: Totally fine! Crona's a bit twitchy, but generally fine with it.
Sexual Contact: No thanks!
Romantic Interactions: Crona likes girls. Crona also doesn't know how to deal with people.
Fighting: Sure! Crona tries to avoid fights, Ragnarok picks fights, everything is a mess
Injuries: Crona is extremely difficult to seriously injure, because of Ragnarok's ability to turn into metal. Punching Crona has been described like punching a brick wall, and Crona's ignored being completely impaled in a fight before.
Death: Unlikely, but not impossible. Obviously ask first.
Telepathy: Go ahead, but if I haven't filled out your permissions post please direct me to it!

Soul Perception:
Crona has a sixth sense ability and can "see" souls (Ragnarok can eat souls, but that's really not likely to come up). It's an active ability, and Crona's not very good at it, but can identify individuals at a distance.

Warnings:

Crona and Ragnarok's backstory contains significant child abuse (no sexual abuse), so if that makes you uncomfortable please drop a note here (either a "please give content warnings for X", "please don't bring it up", or even "please don't tag me").

CRAU History

Crona and Ragnarok were in a game called Bastion, based off the video game of the same name for exactly 262 IC days (about 2 1/2 ooc years).

Complete threadtracker. Can give further info if necessary.

[The teen using the video doesn't seem to know where to look, or how to correctly position the MID for proper recording. It's first too close, then too far, then the screen just goes dark as Crona covers the camera with a hand.]

Um...

[Not the most auspicious beginning, but probably not entirely unexpected from how nervous the pink-haired kid looked.]

I... um... I'm Crona. I don't think I'm supposed to be here. [The voice is as androgynous and nervous as the face. There's a weird sound, a splash of liquid and a hum of energy, and another voice speaks.]

Hey! Who the hell screwed up this much, huh? ... Ragnarok, that's not-- Somebody screwed up! We didn't even vote for this! I don't think we get to vote. Who the hell decided we didn't get a vote? That's not....

Um. If... if anybody here knows us, can you come... I don't know where we are. I don't know my way around here yet. I don't know how to deal with spaceships.

They said we could go home, if we help. I don't know if we can do that. The worlds were all destroyed, weren't they? They exploded. ... maybe they haven't yet. Shit! We aren't supposed to tell anybody if they sent us back in time! I don't think they-- [And Crona ends the feed mid-sentence.]

Kinks/Permissions for CoA

CHARACTER NAME: Crona (and Ragnarok)
CHARACTER SERIES: Soul Eater (anime)

[OOC]

Backtagging: Always
Threadhopping: Ask first

[IC]
Hugging/Kissing/Flirting with this character: Crona is extremely awkward, but lbr this is CoA so sure
Fighting with/injuring this character: Sure! Crona's got fighting experience, but without powers will be kind of a pushover.
Killing this character: Ask first, but probably yes
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: If your character has mind-reading powers, they're going to have a bit of a mess to sort through. Two minds sort of sharing the same place, and one (Ragnarok) is very grumpy.

Warnings: Two big warnings!
1. CoA is obviously a sex game, and Crona is underage. If you absolutely want to opt out of all sexual encounters with Crona, please respond here.
2. Crona's history involves a massive amount of child abuse from Crona's mother. If you do not want to have that topic come up in conversation with your character, please respond here.

All comments are screened!

Gender/Sex note: Crona doesn't know how to deal with gender, and will change the subject if it comes up, but your characters are free to assume whatever they want and use whatever pronouns they want for Crona.

In canon, Crona looks completely androgynous, and does not have a canon sex or gender. For purposes of this game, I'm going with saying that Crona would have been assigned female at birth.

Crona's more attracted to girls, but because Ariel guys are also an opion.

Kink list, pretty much everything is negotiable.

□ Journal: blackblooded
□ Series: Soul Eater (anime)
□ Canon point: Post-series
□ History: http://souleater.wikia.com/wiki/Crona (anime-only for history) Content warning for child abuse.
□ Personality:
Note: Crona shares a body with another entity (Ragnarok). For sake of completeness, I'm including Ragnarok's personality here as well, but he will be limited to being a voice in Crona's head unless his powers are restored. More complete information about their connection is in the powers section.

With Crona, what you see is not what you get. The teenager is outwardly very uncomfortable with people, even shy. Crona will be the first to tell you that interacting with people is difficult, and that Crona really doesn't have any experience with it. Crona is the poster child for awkward.

Most of this has to do with Crona's upbringing. Crona was the subject of some rather horrific abuse at the hands of Lady Medusa (Crona's mother, and the person solely responsible for Crona's upbringing). Essentially, Medusa wanted to create a new demon god of fear and thought that Crona-and-Ragnarok would be ideal for the position. So Crona's upbringing was an absolutely terrifying experience, designed to break the child down into an irrational, uncontrollable creature who was only interested in killing others in an attempt to get rid of their own fear (if no one alive is stronger than you, you're safe from everyone). And to some extent, Medusa was successful. Crona grew up awkward and scared, uncomfortable with trusting anyone or letting anyone close. Really, Crona grew up afraid of love, afraid of affection, terrified of letting anyone close because closeness had always meant pain. Crona just didn't know how to deal with any positive interaction at all.

But Medusa wasn't entirely successful. Crona was just too stubborn for that. Crona was incredibly stubborn. Stubborn enough to refuse to break the way Medusa wanted, or as much as Medusa wanted. Essentially, Crona was uncontrollable and unstable, obedient but constantly questioning. Crona didn't know any other way to live, and so Crona didn't actively try to escape, but when the potential for a better life was offered, Crona took it.

Once Crona was freed from Medusa, and allowed to develop as a person outside of Medusa's framework of "kill everyone and get stronger", the teen started showing a few significant traits beyond "unstable" and "stubborn". Crona is shy and awkward, wanting to fit in and not knowing exactly how to do that. This results in a lot of Crona following people around, trying lots of things that they suggest in an attempt to fit in. Lots of writing poetry (really horrifying poetry that depressed all Crona's friends and made a zombie regret ever coming back to life) and wearing inadvisable clothing. Crona also becomes determined to never hurt anyone again (though it's more a case of "never hurting anyone who doesn't deserve it") no matter what the personal cost. Crona is loyal to friends and determined to make sure that nothing bad happens to them, to the point of being willing to die for them.

In general, Crona is sheltered, awkward with other people, overwhelmingly stubborn, and prone to instability and violence, but also kind, loyal, and willing to do whatever is necessary to protect important people.

Ragnarok, on the other hand, is completely different. Ragnarok's personality won't come up much in Ariel, since because of power limitations he'll be restricted to just a voice in Crona's head. But he and Crona have grown up together, so he's been a huge influence on Crona's life. While Crona constantly stood up to Medusa, Ragnarok accepted it. He enjoyed killing, and did his very best to bully Crona into it. Ragnarok is loud, violent, and not overly intelligent. He's greedy, and selfish, and essentially everything that Crona's not. Their relationship is more one of necessity than actual friendship, and they tend to argue about everything.

□ Age: ~15

□ Gender: The series made a point of not stating Crona's sex or gender, and I will be playing Crona as female-bodied and gender is basically just ???

□ Appearance: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130603220941/villains/images/b/b7/Crona.jpg

Crona is a thin, extremely androgynous teenager with pale skin and purple/pink hair. Crona is slightly on the tall side of average, and dresses in a black, ankle length robe with white accents on the cuffs and collar, and wears matching black and white boots. Crona's eye color alternates between black and very pale blue (possibly having something to do with power usage, though it's pretty random).

Crona's appearance is androgynous to the point that Crona's physical sex is a complete unknown. It's not so much that Crona has a gender neutral appearance as that Crona's kind of a mixed bag of characteristics. Feminine: facial features, hips, standard outfit. Masculine: chest, outfits other than standard. Neutral: voice, general presentation.

Crona's blood is black.

□ Abilities/Powers: Crona and Ragnarok have a very unusual way of sharing a body, which I'm going to discuss in a bit more detail here. When Crona was a very young child (probably an infant) all of Crona's blood was removed. At about the same time (or slightly before) a Demon Weapon (a person who could physically transform into a weapon) named Ragnarok was magically melted down into a substance known as Black Blood. The Black Blood (with Ragnarok's powers and consciousness still intact) was injected into Crona, effectively replacing the child's own blood. The result was two completely separate entities forced to coexist in order to survive. Without Ragnarok, Crona would have no blood, and without Crona, Ragnarok would just be a puddle.

Despite the magic involved in their physical reliance on each other, neither can control the other's body or directly influence their actions. Because of power limitations in game, Ragnarok will be confined to just being a voice in Crona's head for now.

Crona has limited soul perception, which is a common power in Crona's world. Essentially Crona can see a person's soul, picking up on things like personality traits, species, and other identifying features. The main thing that soul perception allows Crona to do is track and identify an individual. Crona and Ragnarok (technically, anyone with proper training) can use soul resonance, which involves two (or more) individuals linking their souls together in a way that increases their fighting ability and powers.

Crona is also an extremely skilled fighter, specifically with a sword. However, Crona's fighting style heavily utilizes Ragnarok's abilities, and so will be more dangerous to Crona than to anyone that Crona might fight.

Ragnarok has two primary sets of abilities. First, his abilities as a weapon. In Soul Eater, there are people who can transform into living weapons. Ragnarok is one of those people, with a sword for a weapon form except his human form is melted down into black blood. So instead of having a human form and a weapon form, he has a blood form and a weapon form.

He also has some limited sonic abilities. In sword form he can vibrate his blade to increase the tearing power. When Crona and Ragnarok initiate soul resonance, they can use a variety of sonic-based attacks in both short and long range, that mostly involve launching a wall of solid sound at an opponent.

Ragnarok's black blood abilities are a bit more flexible than his weapon abilities. Essentially, he has the ability to completely manipulate his form in whatever way he chooses. This ranges from blocking attacks by turning solid underneath Crona's skin to growing giant wings made of blood from Crona's back. Even blood splatters and droplets can be controlled and manipulated into needles, and he can also levitate those droplets and make them float around.

□ Personal Items: Clothing (ankle length black robe with white trim, boots, no underwear). A picture of Crona and Maka. That's it.

info
Having been in the Bastion since Day 60, the meister and weapon duo of Crona and Ragnarok are something of a staple, though one that other characters might not have talked with much. The two of them are always willing to lend a hand out on the Skyway, and can usually be found there fighting monsters, wearing armor given by the dragon Paarthurnax. Peckers are afraid of Crona.

Summary:
History
Crona was raised by hir mother, the witch Medusa Gorgon, who was an absolutely horrible person. First Medusa replaced all of Crona's blood with a magical substance called "black blood", which she made by somehow melting down a perverted bully with impulse control problems who could turn into a sword, then she physically and emotionally abused Crona for years with the intent of turning the child into a heartless killer, so that Crona could eventually become a demon god. Crona was starved, beaten, locked dark rooms for days on end, and forced to kill small animals, and eventually, humans. This treatment went on for years, until one day Crona and Ragnarok got in a fight with Maka Albarn and her weapon Soul Eater. Crona and Ragnarok defeat the pair fairly easily, but are then beaten by Dr. Franken Stein and his weapon (Maka's father) Spirit Albarn. Crona and Ragnarok leave, and then are next seen on the ghost ship Nidhogg, where they consume the souls that its captain had been collecting to sacrifice to the Kishin Asura. Crona and Ragnarok fight against Death the Kid, who had come to investigate the Nidhogg, and then leave.

When next we see Crona, zhe is providing backup for Medusa's attempt at reviving the Kishin Asura, who was imprisoned beneath Shibusen. Once again, Maka and Soul fight Crona and Ragnarok, but this time the ending to the fight is very different. Maka reaches out to Crona in a way no one ever had before, literally going into Crona's soul and extending an offer of friendship, which Crona accepts.

This new friendship with Maka (and Medusa's apparent death) results in Crona being accepted into Shibusen as a trial student. Crona begins to learn to interact with people more, going to school and carefully forming friendships. Then Medusa shows up again, tells Crona to turn traitor to Shibusen, and everything very quickly goes downhill. It is incredibly difficult for Crona to make a choice between hir new friends and hir mother, and Crona chooses to follow Medusa's orders. This choice absolutely wrecks Crona, who winds up running away from both Shibusen and Medusa. Maka tracks hir down and confronts Crona, who explained what zhe did and why. Crona hates Medusa, but feels loyal to Medusa, but doesn't want to hurt anyone ever again.

Because of Crona's betrayal, zhe is officially thrown out of Shibusen. However, zhe goes with Marie Mjolnir to track down Medusa, determined not to run away anymore, not to be the sort of person who is too weak to protect anyone. This leads to a final confrontation with Medusa, as Crona finally stands up against hir mother. Despite Crona's determination, Medusa is still able to seriously injure hir, as Crona's black blood abilities are nearly useless against the woman who created the black blood in the first place, and knows the best ways of hurting Crona. However, Crona's loss against Medusa does not trivialize the development that it took to get Crona to the point where standing up to and fighting against hir mother was a possibility. Once again, Maka comes to Crona's rescue, and kills Medusa.

Personalities:
Crona
Crona’s gender is unknown, so this (and any sort of third-person section) will sound kind of awkward.

Medusa's actions resulted in Crona becoming violent and unstable, a traumatized child who doesn't know how to deal with normal interaction and very quickly resorts to destroying anyone or anything that unnerves hir. Crona claims to hate everyone, and says that no one is able to understand hir.

This aspect of hir personality does fade somewhat as the series progresses and Crona's more timid side comes to the front, but it is still part of how Crona's mind works.

After Crona and Maka become friends, Medusa apparently dies, and Crona begins attending classes at Shibusen, Crona's insanity fades and Crona's timid and pessimistic side comes to the forefront for a bit. Crona hides behind Maka, sits curled up in the corner of hir room hugging a pillow, can't stand going out in crowds or walking around the school, and is terrified of one of the teachers (who happens to be a zombie). When Maka suggests that Crona write poetry in order to express hir feelings, Crona's attempt is so soul-crushingly depressing that it makes everyone who reads it wish that they had never been born.

However, Crona does eventually become more comfortable around people, even without Maka around to provide support, and manages to settle in to a fairly normal school routine. As Crona gets more comfortable around other people, zhe becomes less and less of a pushover, and starts standing up for hirself more. This is seen in everything from Crona standing up to Ragnarok's bullying and telling him to behave to Crona's eventual decision to go and attack Medusa with the intent to kill her.

Powers:

Inhumanly fast healing if injured. Manipulation of blood outside of body (for example, the bloody needles attack, transforming blood splatters into flying needles, or the bloody slicer attack, in which Crona slits hir own wrist and uses that blood as a blade). Can use the black blood to grow dragon-like wings and fly.

In game, all of Crona and Ragnarok's abilities will be kept to the three-uses-a-day limit.

Entry: Crona and Ragnarok arrived on the Skyway on day 60. They were close enough to the Bastion that they made it there without trouble.

How's my poetry screech alpha corner-naming driving?

Crona is androgynous in appearance and does not gender identify (beyond "not female"), and so I will be using gender neutral pronouns for hir. Crona's sex/gender has come up as a topic in canon, with castmates asking about it and not getting any answers. Feel free to use whatever pronouns you want to when your character interacts with Crona.
